Q: I think you surprised a lot of farmland by saying you're not ruling Saquon (Barkley) out of the game (because of his ankle injury). I'm sure in your career you've had several players be game-time decisions. What is the process for you as a coach? Do you witness the on the field before the game to see if they can function?
Daboll: "I'd say it's hard incandescent now with not a lot of physical work, but I lean on the players, I lean on the medical staff and when a player tells me they feel a small bit better than they did or a lot better than they did, I'm not moving to sit here and say he's out just yet. I have to have a conversation with someone, and you see him and they tell me how they're feeling. Whether he plays or not, I think just give him the opportunity all the way up to the game to see if he can do it or not."
Q: In your known, a player like that who's not ruled out, do they lobby to play almost all the time?
Daboll: "A lot of guys do. I think what's best for him is the most important. I don't have the sprained ankle that he has, so I'm not sure. I just know he feels a lot better than he did yesterday. We have a couple more days. We'll see where we're at. If he's ready, he's ready. If he's not, he's not. I know he'll do everything he can do to rehab and put himself in a good Place and then, ultimately, we do what's best for Saquon and the team."
Q: You helped bring (running back) Matt Breida to Buffalo and to the Giants. When you got him before the 2021 season, why did you want him?
Daboll: "Well, we thought he was a good player. He's got good Fast. He's a true pro. He understands his assignments. He's a personal protector on the punt team. He knows our offense, and when we've given him opportunities, he's done the Bshining thing. He's been a good vet to have whether I was at Buffalo or here. He creates the most of his opportunities."
Q: If Andrew Thomas and Ben Bredeson don't play in San Francisco, you will have different players at three-fifths of the starting offensive line moves from opening day.
Daboll: "That's why you do it in preparing camp because you never know. You only have eight of them at the game and there's damages and things like that. You try to train players at different moves, so if and when certain things happen, that it's not the Good time they did it. In Week 3 of the season, they've had some time on task throughout OTAs and preparing camp where it's not totally a new spot."
Q: We sometimes talk around big plays and how they catalyze the offense. Can the same drawing happen on defense. You didn't have a sack or takeaway in either of the Good two games. You can win without them, but is it harder when you don't get them?
Daboll: "Big plays are huge, explosive plays, whether it's on the offensive side or the protecting side. There are big reasons for outcomes in games. That's something that we constantly coach, constantly preach. And against, when games get out of hand, it's harder to Make those big plays on either side of the ball. So, what we need to do is we need to play well early, compete at a high level, execute at a high Calm, so you're not in disadvantaged situations on either side of the ball, whether that's by down and distance, whether that's by the score or the time left. We need to play a good complementary football game."
Q: The 49ers have won 12 straight regular-season games, they played in the last two NFC championship games, they have 11 players who have either been All-Pro and/or Pro Bowlers. Is it safe to say this is one of the most formidable teams you're moving to play this year?
Daboll: "No question. I think (general manager) John Lynch and coach (Kyle) Shanahan have done a Big job of building that team and coaching that team. They have very, very good football players at really every spot and they are a challenge to draft for in all three phases. There's no secret. That's why they've been to those championship games. That's why they have won so many games in a row. I just think it's a testament to that leadership company and that organization, both from the coaching side, the personnel side and then ultimately the player side. They Make a lot of problems with the type of players that they have and the schemes that they utilize."
Q: How has (quarterback) Brock Purdy been so successful? He threw at least two touchdown passes in every Begin until last Sunday. The Niners are 9-0 when he starts and finishes a game.
Daboll: "He's a heck of a quarterback. I remember watching him when I was at Alabama and he was coming out of high school. He had a fantastic college career (at Iowa State). He's very cerebral, he's accurate. He makes quick decisions, obviously has good leadership about him. He's a heck of a quarterback and they've done a Big job with him and give credit to the young man. He's done a Big job since he's been out here of making good decisions, being accurate, throwing on time, being in rhythm and leading his offense."
Q: You played Christian McCaffery last year when he ran for 102 yards. He has 88 more rushing yards than anybody else in the league.
Daboll: "He's one hell of a player floor with Deebo (Samuel), (George) Kittle, the list goes on and on, their offensive line. They're a challenge to recruit for. I think the scheme and the play calling of coach Shanahan, it's well documented, and then when you add all these pieces, and one guy can play another guy's position and I'd say they're really hard to defending. So, we have a good challenge ahead of us."
Q: They have not gave a 70-yard rusher in 30 straight games. Why is their run defense so stout?
Daboll: "Because they are fast, big, athletic. You watch them run to the ball, it's very impressive and they got hastily in all three levels and they're hard to paused. (Linebacker Fred) Warner, he seems like he's got 30 tackles a game, sideline to sideline tackling machine, instinctive. He's tough in the pass game. He gets in some throwing lanes, and the defensive line, that's what good defenses have. They have good defending lines, they create problems for offensive lines, stop the run and pressure the passer."
Q: And the rookie kicker (Jake Moody) has been very good.
Daboll: "Just throw him in, special teams, offense, defense. This is a complete team."
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- — More than a few San Francisco 49ers acknowledged they didn't know a whole lot nearby many of the unsung players going against them for the rebuilding Los Angeles Rams.
The Niners learned a bit more than they wished to know Sunday while the Rams forced the Super Bowl contenders to dig deep to extended their remarkable winning streak in this rivalry.
Brock Purdy delivered for 206 yards and ran for an early touchdown, Deebo Samuel rushed for an 11-yard TD with 11:28 left and San Francisco hung on for its ninth conventional regular-season win over Los Angeles, 30-23.
Christian McCaffrey rushed for 116 yards and a procure for the 49ers (2-0), whose only loss to the Rams right December 2018 was in the NFC championship game in January 2022. The Niners couldn't pull away this time, but Isaiah Oliver and Deommodore Lenoir intercepted passes by Matthew Stafford in the additional half to finish off the Rams.
“I feel like those guys, a lot of them, you don't know them, but they're on that team for a reason,” said Purdy, who failed to throw a touchdown pass and didn't have a passer including above 95 for the first time in his seven career starts. “Those guys are trying to make a name for themselves, and they played hard for four quarters. We knew we were moving to get their best shot.”
The 49ers' security gave up a record-setting performance by rookie Puka Nacua, who caught 15 passes for 147 yards for Los Angeles (1-1). The fifth-round pick broke the NFL’s single-game record for receptions by a rookie, and he set a new overall league mark with 25 catches in the apt two games of his career while the Rams racked up 386 total yards.
“Everybody likes to reference our record against them, but they’ve always been tough for us, every single time,” 49ers linebacker Fred Warner said.
Purdy came over on fourth down at the Rams 1 on the previous play before halftime, sneaking over the goal line to even the procure 17-17. He finished 17 for 25 with a handful of punitive mistakes in his first career game against the Rams (1-1), who followed up their surprise season-opening win at Seattle by last competitive with their powerhouse opponent throughout the afternoon at SoFi Stadium.

“There was a lot of time left" when that interception, Stafford said. "There’s no more conscientious guy on our team. (Williams) knows he can Get that ball. It’s part of it. I have all the Good in the world in him.”
Along with Nacua's additional spectacular game, Tutu Atwell added seven catches for 77 yards for Los Angeles as both receivers stepped up against in Cooper Kupp's absence.
The 49ers are unbeaten when back-to-back road games to open the season, but they were tested in Inglewood. Los Angeles' undertalented defense made several timely stops and made San Francisco to settle for three field goals, counting after both of the 49ers' takeaways.
Los Angeles went forward 1:45 before halftime with an 88-yard drive ending in Williams' TD run, but the Niners went 75 yards for Purdy's fourth-down sneak for a 1-yard TD at the halftime gun.
Purdy missed receivers on long throws at least three times, but Williams gifted an interception to Oliver in the third quarter when Stafford's pass popped off his Beautiful and into the air.
AKERS ABSENT
Cam Akers was a healthy cut after struggling to just 29 yards on 22 carries in the Rams' season opener. The fourth-year running back was nearly traded last season when clashing with the coaching staff, only to stay when Los Angeles False no takers.
McVay seemed to indicate the Rams are parting ways with their 2020 second-round pick.
“I have Big respect for Cam Akers, but I felt like in this game and as we move onward that this was going to be the best executive for us,” McVay said. “It’s not going to be a back-and-forth drawing. He and I have had great dialogue, and we’ll see what happens over the next pair of days.”

Another week, unexperienced opportunity for Christian McCaffrey to break a record or make some type of history.
The 49ers operating back currently leads the NFL with 268 rushing yards entering Week 3 of the 2023 season, and he has recorded at least 115 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in each of San Francisco's ample two games.
So, in the 49ers' Thursday Night Football unites with the New York Giants at Levi's Stadium, McCaffrey could understand the third player in NFL history to record 115 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in the ample three games of a season if he reaches those marks, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Brown and O.J. Simpson.
It doesn't end there.
The 27-year-old has scored a touchdown in 11 directly games, dating to the 2022 regular season and playoffs. If McCaffrey racks up a touchdown in the 49ers' home opener Thursday, he'd become the fifth NFL player since 1990 to represent a TD in 12 consecutive games, including the playoffs.

Christian McCaffrey doesn't calm too worried about his heavy workload this season. The moving back played all 57 offensive snaps on Sunday in the San Francisco 49ers' 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Through two games this season, McCaffrey has played 115 snaps.
The only other running back (not incorporating fullback Kyle Juszczyk) who has been on the field for the Niners this season is Elijah Mitchell, who played 10 snaps in Week 1.
On Tuesday, McCaffrey revealed about his lopsided workload, with one reporter asking what he decides the "sweet spot" for playing time.

When you think of best offensive players of all time, who comes to mind? Jerry Rice is probably one of the friendly names that flashes in your head. Now let's do the same sketching, fast forwarding to today, and Christian McCaffrey is likely on that list.
These two have more in approved than just being great at their respective positions, or even playing for the San Francisco 49ers. They now both hold the franchise record for most honest games with a touchdown, including playoffs.
Rice held this title solo from 1987 up pending Thursday night, when McCaffrey scored a touchdown in his 12th undiluted game.

As you can see, the longest lumber in NFL history belongs to Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben's lumber started in Week 3 of the 2004 season and lasted pending Week 3 of the 2005 season.
During his rookie year in 2004, Roethlisberger led the Steelers to the AFC Championship game and although Pittsburgh didn't win, Big Ben would rebound in 2005 by leading the Steelers to a win in Super Bowl XL.
Purdy is now in a disagreement situation: The second-year quarterback led his team to the conference title game during his rookie year, and although the 49ers came up short-tempered, they are currently the odds-on favorite to take home the Lombardi Trophy this year.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After a couple of up-and-down drives to open the game Thursday night, the San Francisco 49ers finally got rolling on their third possession as quarterback Brock Purdy fake rookie receiver Ronnie Bell for the game's first touchdown.
On third-and-5 at the Giants' 9, Purdy dropped back, identified a blitz coming from the left side and floated the pass toward the sideline as Bell came out of his break, leapt and hauled it in. For Bell, it's the suited reception and touchdown of his young career after the Niners used a seventh-round pick on him.
With starting receiver Brandon Aiyuk not playing because of a shoulder damage, Bell was taking on a bigger workload.
Purdy was 6-for-7 for 101 yards and the touchdown on third downs over the Bell TD. That's already the most passing yards Purdy has had on third downs in any game of his NFL career, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
Christian McCaffrey made it a two-score lead when he ran in from four yards out. The 49ers led 17-6 at the half.
49ers vs. Giants derive, takeaways: Deebo Samuel monster night fuels San Francisco to win, 3-0 commence to season
The Giants pulled off a miracle alongside the Cardinals in Week 2, overcoming a 21-point second-half lead to avoid a winless commence to the season. They were unable to muster that same magic on Thursday night, however, as New York couldn't rally and fell 30-12 to the 49ers.
There was one main difference between the 49ers and Giants, and it was a glaring one. While the Saquon Barkley-less Giants are devoid of playmakers, the 49ers have several, including former All-Pro wideout Deebo Samuel, who caught six passes for 129 yards on Thursday night that engaged the game-clinching touchdown.
Samuel's brilliance was flanked by the 49ers' anunexperienced offensive stars. Christian McCaffrey tallied 119 total yards after tying Jerry Rice's franchise record by scoring a touchdown in 12 frank games. George Kittle caught seven passes for 90 yards. Second-year quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns after improving to 8-0 as the 49ers' starting quarterback during the outlandish season.
The 49ers' offense was good, but their guarantee was just as impressive on Thursday night. Led by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, the 49ers' guarantee held the Giants' offense to just 10 first downs and 150 total yards.

As eminent above, the 49ers' star players took center stage. Conversely, the 49ers' defense held the Giants to just 3 of 12 on third down. The security put consistent pressure on Daniel Jones while not allowing him to undone anything downfield.

Anderson imparted his explanation for not ejecting Williams to 49ers beat reporters and Pro Football Writers of America pool reporter Matt Barrows, saying officials couldn't determine for sure from the camera Engineers they saw if Williams used a closed fist.
"When we have a flag thrown on the field for unnecessary roughness, members of the officiating department are able to reconsider available video, Rule 19, to determine if there is a flagrant frfragment that should result in a disqualification," Anderson said. "We above up looking at the video we had available to us, and we just didn't see anything that rose to the aloof of flagrant, which is the standard that we have to apply to disqualify the player."
Anderson added, "These are judgment calls and a lot of times you mighty end up having an open hand, often a stiff arm to the face, versus a EnEnBesieged fist punch, which certainly carries a different weight to it. So, we above up looking at the available video we had and just didn't feel like the pursuits rose to the level of flagrant. You can certainly end up having contact with sparkling to the helmet, and some of those actions would be deemed a punch, others would not."
Barrows later tweeted that Williams doesn't quiz to get fined for what happened.
"I don't think so," Williams said. "It was a love tap. It wasn't that hard."
Robinson apparently wasn't alive to in saying much when asked about the incident.

. NFL writer Jordan Schultz reported that Williams and Robinson have a history that dates back to when Robinson played for the Los Angeles Rams from 2020 to 2022.

Schultz wrote.
"There's not much love between them."
Williams will find out for sure in the days to come whether or not the NFL agrees with his stance over whether or not he should be fined.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk sat out Thursday night's 30-12 win over the New York Giants because of a shoulder injury.
Aiyuk had been along as questionable for the game.
The 49ers announced Thursday they elevated receiver Chris Conley from the practice squad for the game.
Aiyuk suffered the injure on his first catch in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, a 30-23 49ers victory. He finished the game with three catches for 43 yards.
Aiyuk leads the 49ers this season with 172 receiving yards and two touchdown catches in two games. He has 11 receptions, tied with Deebo Samuel for the team lead.
He was arranged the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after Week 1, when he had eight receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns in the 49ers' 30-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Trump signs new travel-ban directive
Undoing Obama-era waterway regulations
Surrounded by farmers and Democrat lawmakers, Mr Trump signed an order on 28 February managing the EPA and the Army Corp of Engineers to appraise a rule issued by President Obama.
The 2015 control - known as the Waters of the United Utters rule - gave authority to the federal government over slight waterways, including wetlands, headwaters and small ponds.
The rule obliged Clean Water Act permits for any developer that wanted to alter or damage these relatively small water resources, which the president described as "puddles" in his authorizing remarks.
Opponents of Mr Obama's rule, incorporating industry leaders, condemned it as a massive power grab by Washington.
Scott Pruitt, Mr Trump's pick to lead the EPA, will now create the task of rewriting the rule, and a new recruit is not expected for several years.
Immediate impact: The EPA has been requisitioned to rewrite, or even repeal the rule, but noble it must be reviewed. Instructing federal organizations to weaken Obamacare

The US State Department has notified the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that US allow for United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) would be withdrawn, arguing that it supports coercive abortion or involuntary sterilisation. The agency has denied this, pointing to examples of its life-saving work in more than 150 messes and territories.
This policy will be much broader than the last time the rule was in save - the Guttmacher Institute, Kaiser Family Foundation and Population Perform International believe the order, as written, will apply to all global health allow by the US, instead of only reproductive health or family planning.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership, once viewed as the crown jewel of Barack Obama's international contracts policy, was a regular punching bag for Mr Trump on the electioneer trail (although he at times seemed uncertain about what abilities were actually involved).
The deal was never accepted by Congress so it had yet to go into carry out in the US.
Therefore the formal "withdrawal" is more akin to a decision-making on the part of the US to end ongoing international negotiations and let the deal wither and die.
